New #9 & #18 Greens to Open

The new 9th and 18th greens will be open on May 5th!

After re-contouring of the greens surface last October, the new greens are ready for play. We have used DryJect to further enhance the greens. DryJect is a non-invasive aeration process that will promote rooting and smooth the greens surface. What to expect with the new surface:

- More usable pin areas

- A more approachable green that offers better short game options from the left side.

Agronomically
- The green has been managed with a “grow-in” regime since October 2016. The program includes more fertilizer and water inputs than normal management conditions. Additionally, slightly higher mowing heights and more sand topdressing was applied to smooth the surface. The mowing height is now consistent with the rest of the golf course but the turf will be more succulent with the additional fertilizer/sand inputs.

- We have experienced good “knitting” on the turf surface. The rootzone is still a little softer than other greens, additional time will be needed for roots to occupy the air space in the rootzone which will ultimately begin to firm up the surface. During this intermediate phase, please repair ball marks, they will be more prominent than usual.

- The green will begin to perform consistent with the other greens on the golf course as we shift to a maintenance program. This can take up to a month of good growing conditions to see the complete transition.

Enjoy the new greens!
